The Overview tab is your hike's front page: the essentials at a glance, plus the admin controls for the trip.
Dates And Description
The top card shows the start and end dates — or the duration with "dates to be confirmed" if the group hasn't locked dates in yet. Below that, anyone with edit access can click the description to write an intro for the trip: the plan, the vibe, what people should know before committing.
Links
Under the description sits the hike's link list — a shared place for the pages everyone keeps hunting for:
- the national park or land manager's page for the trail
- the shuttle or transport operator
- permit and booking portals
- the local weather forecast
- maps, guidebooks and trip reports
Click Add link, paste the URL, give it a short title and pick a category (Park info, Transport, Permits, Weather, Stay, Maps & guides, Emergency, Other). Links display with a category icon and the site's name, and open in a new tab. Anyone with edit access can add or tidy them.
Routes And The Map
The Route Details section lists every uploaded route file with its distance, ascent and descent, and an elevation profile. The map shows everything scheduled on the itinerary — routes in their colours, camps, food drops, water and reception points. See Routes & maps for uploading and managing routes.
The Pack
The members panel lists everyone on the hike with their role, and is where admins invite people, adjust permissions and manage Pack Shadows. Details in Members, roles & Pack Shadows.
Owner Controls
If you own the hike you'll also see:
- Activity log — a history of notable changes on the hike.
- Danger zone — close or delete the hike. Closing marks the trip done and emails everyone a final expense summary with the suggested settle-up; the hike stays readable. Deleting removes it permanently.
Note: Closing is permanent — the hike becomes read-only for everyone — so settle the expenses and finish any tidy-up first.
